First 5K is built to respect your privacy. Here is exactly what happens to your data.

What we collect

Nothing leaves your device. Your profile (goal, voice coach, run days), your workout history, and your GPS run data are all stored locally on your iPhone using AsyncStorage. We have no servers and no analytics. We cannot see your runs, your progress, or your activity.

Location

The app uses location while a run is in progress to calculate distance and draw a route heatmap. Location is requested with the standard iOS permission prompt. Background location is requested so the run continues to track when the phone is locked. Location data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted off the device.

Purchases

The one time 2.99 unlock is processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives a randomized anonymous user ID and a record of the purchase so the unlock works across reinstalls and on devices signed in with the same Apple ID. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, location, or workout data. Their privacy policy is at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

Notifications

If you enable run reminders, the app schedules local iOS notifications on the days and time you choose. No notification ever leaves the device. Reminder messages are picked from a small set baked into the app.

Children

First 5K is rated 9+ and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
